Best retail stores in America to buy headphones in

Hello,

In a week or so I will be flying out to America for a holiday (Florida) and I was wondering what the best stores are to both try and purchase a pair of headphones.

Thanks in advance.

What specific cities will you be visiting? Florida is a big state, it's 350 miles from Jacksonville to Miami.

Find a Best Buy, but look for their "Magnolia Room."  It has the higher end headphones that are basically hidden from the rest of the store - Sennheiser Momentums, AKG K550's, Audio Technica ESW-9's, etc.

Guitar Center will have all the well-known models under $200: ATH-M50, DT770, Koss ProDJ100, KNS6400, HD280, SRH440, SRH840, &c.

The Magnolia section in my local BestBuy doesn't have *any* headphones to demo. You can order them, but that's it. They seem to focus on big TVs and some speakers and receivers that are different from the normal BestBuy stuff - but they have nothing for head-fi on display - or at least they didn't the last time I was there. The BestBuy headphone display has the normal suspects from Beats, Bose & Sony. It's been a while and they change things around all the time, so maybe I'll check back in there...

Yeah, the Best Buy Mangolia selection varies significantly.  Today, I happened to be at the third or fourth closest Best Buy to me (San Diego) and they had the Sennheiser HD650 and HD598, Audio Technica ATH-W1000X, Bowers & Wilkins P3/P5/P7, and AKG 550.  No other BB around here, that I know of, has any of those but the B&W P5.  I have no idea what's in Florida Best Buys, but might be worth a look or a few phone calls.

Yeah, I'd never seen them there before.  It was a little bit of a bummer though.  It was so loud in the store that I couldn't really hear what was coming out of the headphones very well.  They were comfortable though.
