Production costs of audio equipment

Thread Starter

I just read somewhere that the Ultrasone Edition 8's costs $20 to make. Not sure how exactly true that number is but im sure if its not that the real one is not too far off. I know the retail price is supposed to reimburse the R&D but its still funny comparing the two costs. Anybody know some other funny facts?

My humble opinion: don't believe everything you read.

It's possible. If a Chinese factory had the technique to make the exact same headphone without all the R&D and brand, then you could probably buy a set for $200!

Realistically though, I reckon the HD800 would probably cost Sennheiser around $200 a pair at least.

Yes, that would include the typical labor cost I think.
