iPad chargers are 5V 2.1A. There isn't a 12V USB charger. The difference between chargers is the current output. They range from <500mA (USB spec) to 2.1A (2100mA).

The apple store indicates 12w. Here's the link

Watt = Voltage x Current drawn
So a charger that can charge at 5V with a constant current drawn of 2A is providing 12W of power. What you want to be careful of is to match the voltage. A device can draw current from 0.5A to 2A depending on how much wattage the charger can provide. The voltage will always be constant. Think of voltage like the constant pressure pushing the electrons around into/out of the device. If you undervolt an appliance nothing damaging will happen and it just will not get enough power to start. But if you overvolt the charging it will burn out the circuitry.

While we are on power adaptors, someone damaged their AK240 charging it from an airplane's seat USB ports. Mine became rather warm charging from an audiophile USB power supply (which is unregulated). Given a similar caution from FiiO about the X5 and charging I'd caution people to use only regulated chargers such as the iPad one. I'm getting about 20% charge per hour from mine.

If they don't include power adapters, then would it be safe to say that PC charging is still the best option at 500mA?

I'm on the road 24/7, I use a 2000 watt, Pure Sine Wave inverter, it has a USB port. Unit never gets warm, charges real fast.

My AK240 experienced twice that the created playlist (some 50 songs via drag and drop to playlist) carries no song after the device was restarted/switch off.  Anyone experience the same?

If the songs are on an SD card then this is a known bug that I reported a month or two ago. It was supposed to be fixed in 1.10 or whatever the next release is called and 1.10 was supposed to be released a couple of weeks ago.

Unfortunately the fix was moved to the release after 1.10 (1.11) and 1.10 has not been released yet. So very frustrating and disappointing. Unfortunately user Steph86 who works for Astell & Kern, who used to be good at keeping me updated, has gone quiet recently, and so I no longer know what is going on.

Bad customer service for such an expensive high-end device :-(

Thanks for the reply Piercer.  At least now I know my unit is not malfunction.

How about a portable amp/dac with iphone instead? Come on, I am sure you can get the same (if not better) results that way! ;)
