This is off the PC, not wall socket charger.
I have not listened to a lot of DSD while hooked into the computer , but it does charge very slowly, while connected to the computer.

I should add that I tried turning off the Line Out option in the settings and I still had the same problem. I'm wondering if some dirt got underneath the volume knob since there is a bit of play on this; one of the disappointments when I first got the 240 was the volume control was nowhere near as tight or solid sounding as on my 120.

Also, does anyone know whether the knob just pulls off? I don't want to take a chance and damage my unit, but if it is a debris issue then I'd like to take off the knob and clean the pot.

yes, it does. I was never able to get a full charge off my MacBook Air with its USB 3 jack. I'm using my iPhone wall charger and that works fine.

Hi Sean
First congrats for your AK 240 beerchug.gif

Play DSD battery drain very fast , it is normal for big size file
Normally with wall charge about 6 hours , I think through PC is longer about 10 hours my friend said , I have not tried by my self charging through PC
It is normal because of slow charge , that use DSD drain faster than it can charge .

The fastest charge about 5 hours if I use Docking Stand

Yes, I love balance out, Moon Audio, is making me all the connections, I will need for the duet balanced out. 2.5 mm to RSA/ALO connector. I'll be home next week, to try it out.

Hi Rudi,

It's not mine but a loaner demo for the folks in Tokyo Head-Fi to try out. Yes it seems to be similar to the HM-901 where battery consumption during use is at a higher rate than the charging rate. That's ok, as long as we know the parameters of use.

At a very brief thought within the first hour of listening, to my dismay, this is a jaw dropping performing DAP. I was hoping it wouldn't be that big of a jump in SQ but it is. The first words that came to my mind was fluid, smooth. My ZX1 sounds somewhat coarse by comparison and that's made me sad as I like the ZX1 very much (over the AK120 even). I do agree with you that side-by-side with the 4S/dB/Duet, the Cypherlabs rig does triumph over the AK240 in terms of dynamics & (virtual?) space utilisation. I've not compared it to the Theorem 720, nor my VentureCraft DD/Apex Glacier, yet.

Now I'm no longer talking about comparing the AK240 to other DAPs, but comparing to other component rigs instead. To me this is the territory the AK240 is intruding into. Quite impressive.
