Great, I am sure you will like it. Just one word of caution... although bass is good, there isn't more slam which I think is because of wider soundstage

Did you use the round disks that came with the Beyer Velours on your HE-4?

No I got my pair used, the fellow who sold them to me [they where used but... also new or the guy washed them]

ayways they came with a Hifiman Mounting Ring, shaved off about 1/16'th of an inch. but I FREAKING HATE, the way you mount Hifiman ePads took me easily 20 mins to get all 4 tabs snapped in... so annoying q.q

I'm actually kinda terrified Brian will struggle to get the pads back onto the headphones as thats not something I care to EVER have to do again. SUCH a pain

but yea take ur old Hifiman ePad rings and shave em a little to get the Beyer pads to fit

I've had the DT990 pads on mine for a while now, but I used the disk that came with the pads to cover the HE-4 drivers.  I cut the disks using the Hifiman ring (ring on disk to trace inside diameter) to size them to cover the drivers, this makes a subtle difference, smoothing the treble a bit, but otherwise not affecting the sound.  I also use the dots from the Alpha Dog foam kit!

Just got my Tubemonger tube socket savers in place on my tube amp and Jolida tube DAC.....they make a pronounced difference in the sound because they reduce tube vibrations.  More clarity, details, more texture in the bass, noticeable difference!

I didn't do that, the HE 4 has a... film of some kind over the driver, there's something that sits atop my HE 4 driver that keeps the dust off it.

But I didn't use the Foam Disk. I like the HE 4 treble, it's like an improved dt 990 treble edge

I think you're the only other HiFiMan user (and maybe one of the rare ones on head-fi altogether) that also uses a Glass FX DAC :cool: *cool kids table*

@phillyd

Can you change my setup? I'm now running this config

Beresford Bushmaster MKII DAC/AMP powered by an Anker Astro Pro2 battery > Temple Audio Bantam Gold Speaker Amp > Hifiman HE-6 with a Double Helix Nucleotide Cable

The Glass FX DAC that I use is not with the stock tubes.....I use Brimar CV4035 NOS Tubes, and an upgraded Belden/Wattgate power cord....the sound would just be average without the Brimar tubes and the powercord.  My tube amp is close to the same as the Jolida Tube amp, EL84's and 12AX7's...I use Mullard NOS tubes same  power cord over there as well....socket savers another worthwhile component though!

Nice!  Yeah, I've got a pair of RCA MilSpec 5751 in mine currently and the output caps have been upgraded...it's a superb DAC regardless.  I've also got a few hospital-grade power cables I acquired from a previous job, so I'm just using those at the moment for my components.  I've actually not heard any of JoLida's amps yet, but supposedly they are quite good.  I'll have to take you up on your recommendation for socket savers...what type/brand do you recommend?
