For the Sennheiser HD598: Creative ZxR vs Asus Xonar STX vs FiiO E10

So I'm getting an HD598 and am thinking I need a soundcard or amplifier to get the most out of it (my motherboard is an Asus Maximum VI HERO). After some research, it seems like the three preferred methods for getting the most out of this headset are the Creative ZxR, Asus Xonar STX, and FiiO E10. As I've been using a very bad headset for very many years with no amplifier or soundcard to speak of, I feel like I don't qualify for making any real decision between the three choices. I intend to use the headphones mostly for gaming and music in equal parts, with some home theater thrown in. Knowing this, what would my best option be (not necessarily of the three if you have a better suggestion)?

As a side note, I'd like to use virtual surround for gaming sometimes, which makes me lean away from external devices like the FiiO E10. Also, I'd rather not spend more than $200, and less is better. I'll list the prices for my area below:

Creative ZxR: $185

Asus Xonar STX: $190

FiiO E10: $75

Edit: I also intend to use this on my MP3 player and mobile phone, so if a portable amp or something is necessary for that, let me know :). I've mostly read that it isn't necessary, but there's some mixed responses...

I would say to get a used Essence STX off eBay, for the computer

The Essence ZxR should be about equal for sound quality, for headphone use.

A FiiO E17 is another option, it could use it DAC and amp hooked up to the motherboard and the E17 can use it's amp with portable audio devices.

PS, your motherboard's ALC1150 on-board audio is fairly decent.

So you do not have to buy anything else right now, give your self time to do research and find something on sale.

I've just picked up a Xonar DX and i'ts pretty awesome. I'm going to be pairing it with a Schiit Magni or O2 amp in the near future.

You don't need anything too radical to drive the 598s...

Looking at the FiiO E17, it seems like an interesting idea. What I'm thinking about now is getting the E17 (mainly for portable use), and seeing how it sounds with my motherboard before deciding if I even need a dedicated sound card, and if I do end up feeling like I need a little something extra down the line I can find a used or on-sale STX or something similar (or maybe an E09k?). Thoughts on this plan?

And thanks for the responses, they helped a lot!

Edit: Considering the E07K instead of the E17, since I can't think of a use for the extra connections on the E17, the DACs are the same, and the SQ is generally thought to be very similar between the two. Thoughts? Also, the issue with this option is that they don't offer the virtual surround given by a dedicated sound card, which can be somewhat useful in some games...
