Computer to 12v trigger

Thread Starter

Is anyone aware of a device that would allow me to signal via 12v from something like USB or RS232? I would also prefer to do this via linux, but I bet if there is a device available I can figure out how to make it send a signal.

I want to turn on and off the power outlets on my Furman Elite-15 PFi

I recall back in the day when I used to visit MP3car.com, they had talks about a specific pin on all VGA outputs that triggered the action for the monitor to turn on. Folk would use that (by itself) to turn on a single amp, or with a relay for multiple amps.

Edit... Upon searching VGA Pinouts, I discovered that it's simply 5v out.

You can, however, just connect whatever 12v device to the 12v rail of your PSU. (All PSUs have +5, -5, +12, -12, GRND.)
