Why aren't my 18ohm Amperiors MUCH louder than my 70ohm HD 25s?

I just bought some Amperiors after getting frustrated having to play my iPod at full volume to get a barely adequate blasting through my HD 25-1 ii's. But I was surprised to discover I STILL have to play the iPod at 95% volume. What gives? I thought I would be getting equivalent volumes much lower down the dial at 1/4 the impedance. Why aren't I?

That is odd indeed. Ohm is not the only factor though. I was trying to look up sensitivity, but it seems that they both have the same sensitivity.

It's weird that you have to play at 95% volume on your amperiors. 95% with my amperiors would deafen me within a minute. Are you sure you don't have a volume limit set on your iPod or something?

I just checked the volume limit and none is set. I'm confused. Should any more volume be expected with burn in?

It's better on the iPad but I can still listen on 100%. I wanted 100% to be too much!
