New Teac HA-P50-B Portable DAC Amp

Just figured I'd post an update on my issue with the whirling noise. I contacted Teac and they told me that the noise is not normal, so I've sent it back to the dealer and they've verified the problem. I'll be getting a different unit tomorrow. I wouldn't call this a common problem, but if anyone experiences this issue in the future, know that it's not normal and the unit is likely defective.

Did anyone manage to upgrade firmware on this device? I just get an error that it can´t open the device even though I can select it as an output device in Windows.

After some research on both models (Teac & Onkyo) I was decided to get the Onkyo since it was a bit cheaper, but now there were at the same price, so I just get the Teac.

I just read both threads but I don't have a clear idea about the differences in sound quality, at the begining I though the Onkyo was warmer than Teac, and the Teac a little more neutral and transparent??

From what I read, it's the other way around.

Interesting. I found the ONkyo to sound better and the TEAC was cheaper.

I think they are technically identical...
Both use exactly the same chip set and even the app to play HD on iOS is identical.

I use it mostly with my iPad mini and Sure 535. I have compared it with the Beyer A200p and the IQUBE V3.
The Beyer sounds a bit warmer with wonderfully fluid mids. Some would associate this with tube sound. A great match for the lively Beyers like the T51. But a bit boring on the 535. The Teac has a wider soundstage and a bit more airy highs. The IQUBE was similar to the Teac with a slightly wider soundstage. But it is more cluncky and not really portable.

I'm very pleased with the Teac, it's my best portable audio upgrade since very long. Still, if they could have given it the mids quality of the Beyer I would have been even happier. I guess you can't have it all at this price point!

I'm very surprised there's not more "love" for this awesome little Dac/Amp on head-fi. I'm really enjoying streaming Tidal on my iPhone 6/Teach HA-P50 with AKG 3003i IEM's. Very organic and 3D sounding. IMO: considering the price, it's one of the best mid-fi values out there.

What is the final of the story. With a new unit the issue was solved?

I ask to Android Users with this Dac if we can connect the phone in one USB and connect a USB Charger in the other USB port. I would use at work with plugs available and no need of battery.

Also I would know if it is possible to use the Equalizer of the default music player and external Apps like Spotiffy, Player Pro, etc

I’ve the Samsung Galaxy S4.

Dan does Tidal output 24/96 on your iOS device?

Jesusio, if you download the free TEAC audio app on iTunes, yes, it allows 24/96 on an IOS device without needing a CCK cable.

test it with flacplayer app. Idevice dac/amps are generally limited to outputting at 16/48 although some apps will take larger files -they downsize.
