Question about DAC- NOS DAC?

Hi, I am interested in getting a DAC, but I'm not sure what to choose. I've heard of good things about the schiit modi as well as the ODAC by JDSlabs. But while I was looking on Ebay for DACs, I came across TDA1543 NOS DAC. I think its like a DIY DAC, and there are many different sellers. Some people say they sound really good. Do you know how they compare with the modi and ODAC? Also, can someone explain the advantages of NOS DAC over a regular one? Thanks. (I have AKG q701 and brainwavz b2)

AFAIK, NOS DACs just don't fuss around with the oversampling chips that sample a 44.1khz redbook recording at higher frequencies. On older Marantz and Philips CDPs that use the TDA154x chips, they can be modded by wiring them up in such a way as to bypass the OS chips and have everything going straight to the DAC chips. Technically speaking, if you set your Windows audio to 16/44.1 (I don't think it really over/upsamples if you do, but what the heck), the ODAC technically works without oversampling or upsampling. So technically it's a NOS DAC, but with a newer chip that is easier to design a circuit for to produce cleaner analogue sound.
