Passive monitor speaker

Thread Starter

I'm searching a pair of passive monitor speaker for my desktop setup.

I will amplify them with this http://www.clonesaudio.com/#!product/prd1/327205881/25p or http://www.reddragonaudio.com/collections/amplifiers/products/m500-mkii

My budget is under 350$

Thanks

Do you already have the amps? You'll get better SQ by allocating your money the other way around--more on the speakers. Or more on speakers and a sub (if deep bass is important to you).

OK smily_headphones1.gif

When you say monitor, are you thinking pro audio monitors? Or monitor in the sense of a speaker characterized as a having a neutral response? Or is it bookshelf sized speakers in general you are interested in?

Also, any size restrictions?

Those are 2 very different amps. The Red Dragon is also only a monoblock, do you have two of them?

When i say monitor I talk about a speaker for near field listening which sound good on a desktop without stand to use when i use the PC.

I already have a serious setup with a pair of Kef Ls50, an Eam Labs TO3.8 power amplifier, a Human Audio Sileo pre amplifier and some dacs.

Your best bet for that price will be like the S20 or S30 from cambridge. Or maybe a set of Tannoy Revel. I'm not a huge fan of the them, but a lot of people like them.

Do you think that the S30 is better than audioengine p4?

For transparency and neutrality, I'll go for PSB Imagine series.

They are out of budget

Arx A1b or Ascend Acoustics CBM-170 SE. Both have a very neutral response.

Didn't even think about the Ascent Acoustics, those would be a good choice too!
