No idea if the IF edition will sound different, but it comes with an IF box, shirt clip, and carry bag for the same price.
Zhengnan seller from amazon told me these are going to be the same just in a different packaging. Also, I don't believe he will be carrying them since I think its a limited release only. I also mentioned to him to update pictures on his product listing so now he has a shot with S/M/L and a shirt clip.
Btw, was that my imagination or did I read somewhere on hed-fi that Pistons are made by Dunu guys? Obviously a popular smartphone manufacturer such as Xiaomi wouldn't spend resources investing into R&D to design their own headphones, so they had to subcontract someone to make Pistons for them. I can only hope these were made by Dunu and with success of Pistons there will be more updated versions in the future (maybe even hybrids?).
Also, for those who are following this thread and others who tagged it under "hype" posting, I don't want people to get a wrong impression that $20+ Pistons will make everyone drop their Shures, Westones, UEs, Audio-Technica's, Senns, etc. The hype is not about these single dynamic drivers sounding as good as $400-$500 IEMs, but that they sound as good if not better than some $50-$100 in-ear headphones, have soundstage wider than some $100-$150 models, and have a very bold design. Plus, they have integrated control with latest Android phones where beside playback and call control you also get volume control (very rare since everybody else implements iPhone volume compatibility). The only other company I'm aware of who finally released Galaxy compatible headset with volume control (beside analog slider) is Sennheiser MM30G ($60).
