So you didn't buy Straight from xiaomi, but used a 3rd party to get from Taobao. So the legitimacy of those aren't sure either.

Not saying those are fakes but those weren't Straight from xiaomi either. Mistertao could have sent any product from any seller.

That's Xiaomi's store on Taobao. Box came with a printed receipt from Xiaomi.

This states ibuygou is legit.  Lots of forums state ibuygou is legit.  Even on

http://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/safe-stores-sites-sellers-to-buy-xiaomi-phones-and-accessories-from.19202/

multiple sources say ibuygou is official while xiaomiworld is fake.

To be fair some sources say xiaomiworld is legit but there are more sources stating its fake.

reading more on the OFFICIAL MIUI/XIAOMI site

only xiaomi.com and ibuygou are official online sellers

Link to a MODERATOR from the OFFICIAL MIUI/XIAOMI site post saying that ibuygou is official.  He is replying to a XIAOMIWORLD representative stating that they are not an official seller.  They MAY sell legit products but are not official

Yeah, but you didn't buy from there yourself. You paid someone else to buy from there and send it to you.

Not saying that mistertao does this but it could happen.

Unless you bought Straight from xiaomi or Ibuygou yourself with no middle man, legitimacy is questionable.

Just like eBay, they can say it's genuine when it's really not.

And I'm not disputing the legitimacy of xiaomi on taobao/tmall but the use of 3rd party agents is questionable.

Anything could happen. The Piston is easily purchased from Xiaomi's website or Taobao store, but only if you live in China. A forwarding service is a must.

That's like saying anyone using Tenso to ship from Amazon.jp to ship the Doppios, JVC, etc.. is questionable. There's always that risk, but when there are no international shipping options available, you have no choice.

I bought from ibuygou directly.

Exactly, that's all I'm saying.

Unless you bought from xiaomi.com, xiaomi Taobao directly or Ibuygou.... You can't be certain your pistons are genuine.

I like my pistons more then my vsd1s. More like a personal preferance over the sound signature, but can be fake pistons that good? I bought them from ibuygou and yes, they do change nice with burnin, but also sound very good out of the box.

BTW I'm back to stock tips. They're only ones in my collection with wide bores so until I get some others there is no go for pistons. Any other tips with small bore is taming the mids and treble too much.

@bhazard I really like the flat and even the sound of the vsd1 le and I've read that the havi b3 pro (original), has a similar sound signature but better. So I'm well aware that the havi is better than the pistons 2 but In terms of listening to Metal which iem would you say has the advantage for that kind of music?

My package shipped out from ibuygou two days ago I can't wait to get it! Since I ordered it last week I wonder if I get this potentially updated packaging. It's crazy how the legitimacy of these products have been thrown into question. But as long as they sound good / close...right?

Also just a side story on ibuygou shipping: I got an email that my order shipped 11 days ago. But then two days ago I finally got an email with the tracking number (registered mail) and the tracking shows it just shipped. lol maybe this is part of the reason for long waiting times?

Those are the pistons 1.0 which are apparently nothing like the 2.0s.

As I stated in my earlier post,  I got mine from inshoes on Ebay.  They look exactly like the real Pistons photos posted by Krist2an and Grayson73 (the ones on the left).  They sound great too.  I don't have the L/R markings nor do I have the clip and I guess you can say the holder smells like chocolate if you think the bad very lite chocolaty plasticy smell can be called chocolate.  If someone hadn't mentioned it, I probably wouldn't have said chocolate but I am very picky with my chocolate.

In any case, I am happy with the sound and am reasonably sure I have close enough to authentic or authentic ones for under $30.

Real or fake? Fake or real?

I bought mine from this guy:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/181294614168?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

They are really good, so fake or not, don't really care.  I don't have L or R, but a extra ring/lip on the right side around the protective rubber part where the cord comes out of the earbud.

@mochill I just tried wearing over-the-ear wrapped around my ear.. wow!  the seal is even better now!  I'm using the oval tips from my Monster Gratitudes.  Only problem is that the cord was already pretty short and now I've lost another 2-3 inches.  Thanks for the tip though, I'm not a big guy so the cord length isn't a big deal.

How does the pistons compare to your monster grattitudes?

Monster Gratitudes have better clarity overall, but the bass on the Pistons are punchier and give a bit more thump.

Gratitudes also have harsh highs, so at times those cymbals/high-hats will sound too sharp.  Pistons don't have that problem at all, because their highs are recessed and rolled off.
