The Xiaomi Pistons Thread - Page 127

Hi all,

I'm a new head-fi'er, I've read some nice stories about the Pistons here, so I decided to order them. I ended up registering here to tell everyone how amazing they are for this price!

I increased the highs a little in ViPER4Android, which made the Pistons sound even better with my Nexus 5! The bass is clear, punchy and very well balanced for my likings. I recommend these to everyone who wants a pair of cheap earphones.

I got them from www.dx.com. Dx is very reliable, I've never received any fakes from them. The Pistons are 27-28 dollars, around 20-21 euros. This is a little more expensive than average, but I had some spare store credit, so I paid 93 eurocents for them wink.gif

I got them from DealExtreme, SKU 320154: dx[dot]com/p/320154 (Sorry, I can't post links yet). They cost $27.62. DealExtreme is a very reliable site, I've never received any fakes from them. Their customer service is also great! The Pistons are a little more expensive than on sites like ibuygou ($22.99), but I had some store credit left, which made me pay $0.93 for them

I don't know ibuygou very well, but I've read that it's a trusted seller. So if you don't have any store credit / coupon codes on DealExtreme, I'd recommend ibuygou.

I just purchased a pair from Ibuygou and they are indeed genuine. Best $25 I've ever spent.

Got these last week and have been listening to them a bit before I put my opinion down.

The good: the sound, so much detail, good soundstage and nice, balanced and very detailed bass. The bass is refined and not bunched up like most other IEMs I've had to experience. Build quality is also very nice and they sit so well in my ears I barely notice they're there. I'm currently wearing them and just rediscovering songs I've heard a million times with so many new subtle details that my other el cheapo's could never display.

Cons: the smell, really awful but goes away after a while. Location for controls is not the best, would've been better if it was located on one side instead of at the splitter.

Also compared them to the overt IS-1 and it's no contest. Maybe the ivery needs some more burn in but the bass in the ivery is less refined and the mids and highs are more recessed and less detailed compared to this.

I bought mine from ibuygou and definitely the real deal.

How do these compare to Brainwavz M4s?

So I decided to suck it up and endure the pain. You kinda get used to it. I've been listening to these for a good part of today and so far I'm enjoying them.

Bass on these is pretty amazing. It's forward and coherent, not muddy at all, can leak into the mid a tiny bit. The treble to bass ratio is a great formula with these and they compliment each other quite well. The sharpness and metalic edge of the treble has subsided and I really like the way it sounds. The mids are laid back but not too recessed, enough to still enjoy vocals, though with male vocals the bass can leak enough to make it sound deeper than usual. Sound stage is good for an IEM but it's not as good as a pair of full sized cans, obviously. The stereo separation is where it's at, wide but no depth.

So far my most favourite part of listening to them is the bass guitars. It is really sublime. So clear, punchy on every wave and not muddy at all.

Well written as usual. Seems to agree with most of our impressions. 10/10 value.

Yep, LOVE the Piston 2's!

I got this to check what was all thy hype about and it was a disapointment, my CKM-500 are ages better that these... The piston sound as good as the price (cheap), and way to bassy even after removing the filter
