That is until the JVC FX850s I just picked up on an impulse arrive. Couldn't resist the price drop this time. Had to have me some woody goodness.

Someone on this thread said to try some double flange or triple flange tips, I only had a double flange in hand and honestly... don't like it either.

Oh my, the FX850s are an entirely class above the Pistons~ :basshead:

However...didn't you already say this last time? No offence, but it's almost as if you're trying to lead some away from the Pistons. :D Like I said, I cannot argue with your opinion, especially when I agree on that opinion, so it's all good. I just hope you don't take it the wrong way. Besides, the E10s have been praised a lot back on the Discovery Thread.

Well the E10s come in other colors too. But yeah, fair point. The red on black looks garish, I entirely agree. The red cable doesn't help either.. you know.

In where I live (Malaysia and Singapore), the price difference between the Pistons and E10 is like $5 apart. That's why I'm comparing them, also I've found many other retailers to have them at similar prices and I've gotten quite a few PMs asking a comparison for them. Sorry that I forgot there are places where prices will differ to a larger extent.

Yeah I said it the last time, but was just saying it again since Kamakahah missed it. I really do wanna like the Pistons though, but it's just not right for me personally. I'd still whole heartedly recommend it to anyone who wants an impressive amoung of bass without totally killing the mids and has zero soundstage.

Once again, sorry if I'm de-railing the thread.

The first time I listened to these babies, I was blown away by their overall clarity. It bested all of the headphones I owned by a longshot. But about 2 weeks ago, I've been noticing some things lacking. I began to hear that boomy bass everyone's been talking about. I also noticed a lack of treble sparkle like I said earlier. But at the end of the day, I still love them.

But now it's come to this, now, hasn't it? You're now saying that I've disappointed my "followers." I didn't know you knew this, but I didn't have any followers in the first place! It just so happened that I caught wind of these ultra-cheap IEMs from Xiaomi which has been getting a lot of buzz around here because of their recently-released MI3 (at that time, I mean). It just so happened that my dad actually bought these babies. And it just so happened that I started this hype train.

But just because my opinion's changed on it doesn't mean that "followers" would be disappointed in me. Like I said, I didn't have any in the first place. Apparently, you're the only one "disappointed" in me for changing my opinion. Opinions are subjective; they can and will change. I rest my case.

+1. What a way to summarize the overall consensus of the Pistons! I salute you, man!

:beerchug:

But if you leave us now, we'll all be out of work!!!

Just joking. That's just me being sarcastic.

But, I would like to say, well said and done!

Are you still planning to keep them?

I personally still think they sound better then the majority of my IEM's and deserve a place in my collection. -That's just me.

What are plans? Are you really going to save up for the Ostry KC06? If you get them, let us know your take on these.

Adele-Someone like you and i got to say that these little pistons basterds didnt fell off a long from rock it sounds r 50

and get the point that these iem (30$)) and rock it sounds R-50 (120$) sounds preety good and stand in honor against each other.

R-50 is more dominant ear phone but overall pistons has tight bass and really good soundstage and defintly bang for the buck

Interesting comparison. Let us know if after 2 weeks your opinion has changed, or stays pretty much the same.

I still think they are among my 5 best IEM's. They're that good.

I purchased every Chinese "wonderbuds" there are.

Pistons - buy them if you own an android phone and enjoy a v shaped sound signature. If you like hip hop, dubstep, pop, and hard rock, BUY THEM.

Havi - buy them if you have an amplifier for your headphones. They have less bass than the Pistons, and have a very neutral sound signature. Don't let the word neutral bore you. The clarity and accuracy of these things are amazing. These are probably my favorite under $100 usd sets.

Ostry kc06 - buy them if you want the closest sounding thing to the Havi but don't want to either purchase or fart around with an extra amplifier. They are crystal clear with great separation of different sounds, and have formidable and controlled bass.

Vsonic vsd1s - buy them of you want something that combines great bass and clarity. If the havi or ostry doesn't give you the bass you enjoy with the Pistons, and the piston doesn't give you the accuracy you like and you feel the mids are too recessed, get the vsd1s.Its got a slight v signature but not like the piston.

That's the top 4 budget sets from China. All of them can be purchased from penonaudio.com (which is awesome). They accept PayPal.

You're welcome penonaudio...

Better yet, stack your cash and get the Dunu dn-1000 (the best iems I've ever owned IMHO) or the gr07 bass edition (the vsd1s on performance enhancing drugs) Both can be had for around $200 usd and are well worth the money.

Are you nuts?! These Pistons are hands-down the best pair of headphones -- IEM or over-ear -- I have ever owned! I will never let go of them!

Over my dead body...or maybe over a pair of Ostry KC06 or Don Scorpio Dolphins. But no, that won't happen. Sadly, my urges to purchease headphones have been relentlessly suppressed by my parents. I couldn't do a thing. That, and my pair of Pistons looks pretty beat-up, so I can't just give them away. Besides, they still sound great.

But then again, I'm still looking forward to a pair of KC06s. Sadly, my family and I are going to have to move back to the Philippines in a month, and knowing my parents, things might not look as good as they are. The world is truly a cruel place...:(

EDIT: Since I'm celebrating my 1-year anniversary here on Head-Fi, I'm currently in the process of re-reviewing all of the headphones I have.

You can always try the Senmai SM-E9106 for only >>> 40 RMB (around $6 dollars). IEM color is "black".

They are in everyway better than the Kanen KM-948 and the JVC HA-FXC50.

Note: It is vented in the back just the like pistons. Vents are "copper" (or copper color).

Details.....

Bass: Less aggressive (or heavy)

Mids: Clear (not forward, nor laid-back)

Treble: Very detailed and clear!

Finally, It has a V shape sound -I thought you may want to know the curve type.

If this is your take? You would love them!

-Must burn at least 80 to 100 hours to get the results given stated above!

I don't get what you're trying to do here. Are you trying to get my wallet to at least spend something in my last ~50 days here? Sorry, but I'm still unsure. Everything that I want to order has to go through them; I don't have a bank account or something like that. And...don't you think they look rather flimsy? Their housings look rather awkward, as well.

But seriously, what are you trying to do? Are you really trying to get me to buy another pair of IEMs? I don't see what you point is here.

To fully understand what I'm trying to say here, here's a video I'd like to show you. It's rather offensive, but at least it gets the point across. Have fun :D.

Wow! You really showed your true nature on this video.

Well? At least it makes you happy. Enjoy your 50 days left and make the best of it.

Well, simply put, you made me do it. "Recommending" your IEMs to me like that is really annoying. It's as if you're some sort of marketer for these headphones. It's been bugging me, it really is.

But whether or not you were offended by that video, I'm also letting you know that I'm a really big fan of South Park. It's a lot funnier than any of the TV shows that I watch. But from your response, I'm more than willing to bet the money I'm saving up for new IEMs that you have no idea what South Park is. I thought it'd be funny to reference the show since, well, it's funny.

Now, I'm off to catch ManBearPig. Excelsior!

Hey, I'm delighted that he's recommending inexpensive IEMs to look into.  Its a shame I don't see it available for me to be able to buy, but perhaps at some point it'll pop up.

You don't get it, do you?

I was just showing you a cheaper costing alternative to the Ostry KC06, since you mentioned you were leaving soon. And you also said your pistons were pretty beat-up. And you also mentioned, and I quote, "-I'm still looking forward to a pair of KC06s. Sadly, my family and I are going to have to move back to the Philippines in a month....". I'm not a marketer, I was just trying to help! They happen to be in my collection for best sound. The wires might be a little thin, but it holds well. The selling point is the sound. No need to change the tips, and they seal very well. But, playing sarcastic without knowing my purpose doesn't help.

.....And just so you'll know, my wife is Filipina and my son is American/Filipino. So before you make a judgment call, some of us in this thread no where your coming from and understand the situation.

Okay, fine, I get it. But I'm not like you. You're able to buy whatever headphone comes your way as long as your wallet could stretch enough. But me? No, I'm doomed to nothing for years to come because I'm landlocked in a country which, to my knowledge, doesn't even have a legit headphone store. I get that you're trying to help, but you knew what I said. I said that "Everything I want to buy has to go through them." And that's a "no-exceptions rule. Whatever you're trying to do, whether you're trying to "help" or not, isn't helping right now.

But seriously, "some of us in this thread no where your coming from." That's a little bit too good to be true, isn't it? See, everything you've said to me -- starting from your spill-all-the-details introduction all the way to saying that your wife and son is part-Filipino -- is giving me more than enough reason to be suspicious about you. So unless we meet in person, we still don't know each other. It's almost as if you're some CIA agent taking up an identity and trying to get me to work with you to get information or something like that from me. If that were true, that'd be pretty f'n badass, wouldn't it?
