Looking for an AMP/DAC combo for my resently purchase AKG K612 Pro

Hey folks, this is my question:

I am new to HIFI and audio equipment but on a whim picked up the AKG K612 Pro.   I don't really understand the ohms and impedance so if someone has a good suggestion as to a good amp/dac all in one or a stack like modi/magni that pairs nicely with these headphones that would be greatly appreciated.

Budget <200 CAD $

Thanks in advanced!

Hi,

You should consider Fiio E17 (DAC/Amp)

Best Luck!

What sources will the DAC/Amp be plugged into?

Really? wasn't really what I was expecting... (than again I'm not sure what I am doing.)  Is that enough to power the cans? plus give me good sound for FLAC and 320? I will be using for music all genre and gaming mainly bf4

You can spend more if you want to, but the Fiio E-17 should work fine. The K612 is 120 ohms and 101 dB SPL/V. I would probably classify that as "medium efficiency" - meaning that you *could* try to use them without an amp, but I think it will probably sound better with an amp. Other options for a desktop DAC/amp might be: The Schiit Modi+Magni, The JDS Labs O2+ODAC, JDS Labs C5D, iBasso D7, Leckerton UHA-6S MKII, or any one of the zillion other Dac/Amp choices. You can spend anywhere from $60 - $10,000+ on a headphone DAC+Amp.

I advise starting modestly and then spending more if you get curious enough to want to spend more. You can always sell whatever you buy here on head-fi.
