I'm very new to all of this and am trying to figure out a solid set up for listening at home. My musical preferences are all over the place to the point that I don't even have a music library. What I like to listen to changes so frequently I prefer to just have a listening service do the "driving." I listen to mainly Spotify, Pandora and MOG. All premium services so the quality is acceptable. I do prefer a little extra bass (I'm not even close to a basshead by any means) and don't want anything super analytical.
I will be listening thru my laptop and a FIIO E07K. I'm looking for that "do it all" headphone that's truly a diamond in the rough for sound, comfort, and value. In that order. I keep coming back to the HD558 as they're now a $128 online. I don't know if I'm a qualified enough listener to justify the $60 price difference to the HD598. I've also taken a look at the NVX XPT100 ($80), HD518 ($80). I currently own the Pro DJ100. They were my first "real" headphone and I find them quite fatiguing to listen to even with the treble trimmed.
Open or closed...I don't care. Isolation is not important at all but sound and comfort are. I'm not necessarily stuck to any of the above either. I'd like to keep it under the $150 mark. I know that's not a heck of a lot but figured it's a decent starting place. I've read so many reviews it makes my head spin. Please help!
