Headphones for gaming/music/movies for about 150$

Since my headset broke I'm looking for a new pair.

I hear headphones are much better than headsets so I want to give that a try.

My budget is about 150$, I can go a little higher if necessary.

I will be using it for gaming/music/movies and I mostly listen to DnB, Dubstep and such.

I don't have money for an amp, so the headphones need good sound with that.

I have been looking at ATH m50 and Sennheisser HD558.

What would you recommend?

A friend just recommended this:

The 250 OHM Pro version

HD558 hands down, it's a great headphone.

Instead of ATH-M50, consider DT770Pro.  DT770Pro and M50 are closed headphones that isolate a bit, especially DT770, while HD558 is open-back and does not isolate.  Both HD558 and DT770 have a spacious sound with great clarity, DT770's sound is more laidback while HD558 is somewhat upfront in its presentation.  DT770 has louder bass, HD558 tends to make vocals, strings, and such sound more natural and believable to an extent.  Wearing comfort is terrific on both.

I cannot comment on DT990 yet, but that 250-ohm (that's high impedance) headphone might need an amplifier depending on what you decide to plug it into.  Low impedance headphones like DT770Pro and HD558 are better options if you don't want to bother with amps.
