Help with part number of SFI ribbon tweeters, ideally the 32 ohm bipole version used in so many frankenphone mods. And where to get them in Japan!

Hi guys,

Having searched the forums (and the internet at large) for a while, I haven't been able to find any information on the product or part number of the SFI ribbon tweeters used in, for example, this headphone mod: http://www.stacydevino.com/?p=18

I'm interested in trying something like this out at some point, and since I'm currently in Japan I figured I might have a chance of finding some of the drivers in question. Problem is, I haven't been able to find the part number (or even what SFI stands for!), and my Japanese is (far, FAR) too limited to describe the product to staff at an audio components outlet. So I'm hoping maybe someone happens to know the relevant product code. Or, failing that, maybe you've got some advice on where I might go search for them. I'm sure there's a place in Akihabara that is renowned for selling this type of stuff, but I have no idea where to start!

I realise I'm a good few years late to this craze - here's hoping it's not completely dead yet! :)
General thoughts on how worthwhile this is, and what sort of sound quality can be achieved would also be much appreciated, of course!
Many thanks in advance.

I think they went out of production years ago.

I used to use them frequently in a previous career...

Ah, that so? Shame. Thanks for the info.
Don't suppose you happen to know of a suitable replacement still in production?

If you are still looking for those tweeters from that DIY tutorial, I think these are it. Although the listing is in German, they seem to fit the description. Not sure if the seller will ship to Japan or not, but will ship to the US if that helps? You could always ask the seller if they would ship to Japan.

I was looking for those tweeters too, which is how I found your post. Hopefully you see this since I created an account just for you :P

I just ordered a pair of these. I'm gonna stick them into a $2.50 pair of headphones after ripping out the drivers. I already did this by sticking Portapro drivers into a cheap pair.
