Looking for a decent DAC for HDVD800+HD800

Hi,

I am grateful for everyone who is reading this thread. I have got my HD800 with HDVD800 like half a year ago. This suit is great for classical music and some new age musics. However, in my personal opinion, HDVD800 is a good amplifier, but not a good DAC. It focused on classical music too much.Since I am using my PC to play musics most the time, I really need a good DAC to improve my listening experience. So, any suggestions will be fine, please leave ur points.

Really. This very much surprises me, and I would be very surprised if simply replacing the DAC and continuing to use the HDVD800 as the amp would have a significant impact on the sound.

Why do you believe it is just the DAC portion of the HDVD800 that is not working for you? How have you determined that it is only the DAC portion of the device that is not meeting your needs?

As far as I feel, the dental is too heavy when I am using the HDVD800. Not only for my HD800, but also my K550. If i just plug my K550 into my PC directly, the sound may be worse but the dental is significantly reduced. I've also read some review about HDVD800. It says that HDVD works awesome with CD players or other DACs at this level, but the DAC part is just like a 300$ one plugged into this system. I do admit HDVD800 is a pretty good product, and I am quite comfortable with it. However, I just want to know about the better choices of DACs. Thanks. XDD
