m903,hilo still good?

Thread Starter

I was wondering with all the recent innovations in dacs if people would still purchase a m903 or hillo?

I add to this list the headroom ultra desktop dac. how does that hold up today? the thing is all of these dacs are obsolete spec wise today but seem to still be celebrated.

I am comparing all of these to the m51 and bda-2. I am only using coax from a cd transport. which should do best in this scenario. I have all the dacs here on loan but can't make up my mind. i'd like all of your input please.

Hundreds new DAC models hitting the market does not mean "innovation". m903 and Hilo check all the marks on specs and buzzwords, DSD aside (which is pretty useless anyway). Hell, they are just two years old, DACs don't get obsolete that fast.

The Hilo is about to get it's third firmware update since being released. This is a manufacturer that incorporates customer input.
