Sennheiser IE8 upgrade recommendations?

I currently use an 80GB iPod 5G (video) converted to an iMod, and then through my LOD with BG caps into my iBasso D10. This all feeds my Sennheiser IE8s, all of which I have to admit are getting a bit long in the tooth, so I'm contemplating a possible upgrade to my IEMs.

I love the clear highs of my current setup, as well as the bass impact. Soundstage too.

Any recommendations for upgrades?

Since I know I like the IE8s, I wonder if I should stick to what I know and go for IE800s or IE80s. Also, are UE900s and W4s any good in this specific arena?

PS - I'm planning to just ditch the iMod/LOD/iBasso and get an iBasso DX90 when it comes out.

I currently use the IE800s and they are the best sounding and most comfortable IEMs I have ever used.  Before the IE800s I used the Klipsch X10i and Westone W4R.  The IE800 was a huge upgrade in sound, paired with the AK120; the sound is phenomenal.

Have you ever used the IE8? Would love to hear comparisons between IE800 and IE8.

No sorry, the IE800 was my first Sennheiser IEM.  I also have the HD700, so I like Sennheiser and wanted to try their flagship IEM.  I was not disappointed.  Others have said the lack of removable cable was a negative for them, but I think the cable is the highest quality cable I have seen on an IEM.  The drivers are so small and light, that you can barely feel them when they are in your ear.

Ah. I'm just scared that amongst the IE800, W4 and UE900, the reviews I've seen all say that the soundstage is smaller than the IE8. The only one with at least an equal soundstage is the IE80, but I'm not sure that it's so different it warrants an "upgrade" over the IE8

If you love the sound of the IE8, the IE800 won't just be an upgrade - it'll be totally different. I haven't heard that but that's the impression I'm getting from reviews. It will be kind of like going from the HD650 to the HD700.

Why not try a custom IEM like the Aurisonics AS-2? It also has a tunable bass port and uses a large dynamic driver paired with HF drivers to deal with the roll-off on the AS-1 and ASG-1. Its response goes up to 25khz according to Aurisonics but by the sound and what I sort of remember reading before, it starts rolling off at 10khz, just not sharp enough to count as the -3db point. I used a sine sweep and it all rolled off sharply at 12khz, then barely audible by 16khz, and I had to set my amp to full volume to hear anything past that.
