Need help choosing closed headphones for music and games

Hi,

I'm looking for closed, over the ear headphones for music, mainly metal, and gaming.

They have to be closed so I won't bother anyone in case I use it outside / in the same room with someone else. I'd also like over the ear headphones because they are the most comfortable.

I will be using them for music, games and movies.

The games I are varied. I play FPS, RPG, strategy and other types and I'd like the headphones to be immersive and have decent positional sound for FPS games.

The music I listen to is most sub-genres of metal- speed, thrash, death, power, black, metalcore, progressive and so on.

Here are a few bands for example that cover most of the genres I listen to:

accept, amon amarth, animals as leaders, at the gates, avatarium, be'lakor, corelia, cynic, fleshgod apocalypse, gorod, helloween, in vain, killswitch engage, lamb of god, machine head, metallica, mors principium est, ne obliviscaris, pelican, periphery, scale the summit, the human abstract, trivium, winterhorde.

I also listen to rock, blues and classical from time to time but that's not that important.

I think that the important sound qualities for this music is fast, deep bass that isn't overwhelming, full and present mids, detailed but not harsh highs, a big sound stage, good clarity and seperation. Also I'd like to point out that my ears are slightly sensitive to sibilance so it's important that the treble isn't harsh.

Comfort is also important, for long sessions.

My budget is up to 250$.

I've done some research and the recommended headphones for this price are sony mdr-1r which don't seem suited for gaming and AKG k550 which some say are bad for metal.

Thanks in advance for the help

Hi,

You should read about SoundMagic HP100, AudioTechnica A900X and Shure SRH-840.

Best Luck!
