I also had issues with the AP1 connecting with my USB3.0 port, which is why I'm probably returning it.

I might try the Audio GD DI-2014.

I found that the Ap1 & PP did improve the Hugo, added the elusive magical quality. However it did need at least 200 hours before it sounded its best. Also have mine running with no problems out of a USB3 port (Mac) The stock Audiophilleo connector gave me all sorts of problems so went with a longer S/PDIF cable which works 100%.

@isquirrel damn ive already returned mine, probably best since i was facing lots of problems with it anyway and i shouldntve risked running them for 200 hours to see how good theyll sound.

Rob, if there is a cable or an equaliser out there that can do for my HD800s what the Taurus does, I'm all ears. Not arguing with anything you've said re distortion or any other coloration, but I definitely prefer that headphone from that amp. I sat down the other day and listed everything I'm prepared to sell to finance new toys and the HD800 was in the 'Never' column in that spreadsheet  :D

the Chord Electronics team are on their way to drizzly sunny Suffolk(UK) for this weekends Hi-Fi Show in Ipswich.

Chord will be displaying their flagship Hi-Fi system along with the superb Hugo (looks like there maybe a little surprise).

I've been informed that there is a headphone section at 'Audio Show East, details from Signals the event organisers below:-

I shortened it to iDSD as many would have simply shortened it to "your DAC" (of which there is also no model).

If the darn thing doesn't pass DSD via DoP digital then using it in the same sentence as an Audiophileo (which he did) is inaccurately hopeful and comparing apples vs oranges (assuming one wants to listen to DSD).  Most other DDC's I know of pass DSD (cuz it's simply DoP via 24/176) but the iDSD (family) is also a DAC, with a later analog stage, etc.. and that potentially changes things as to what is present on their combi coax output (which the spec sheet doesn't elaborate on).  And yes, each of the iDSD family could act differently....so.....I asked him about HIS Nano.

Lemme put it this way, if the iDSD Nano (or Micro for that matter) can be used as a full fledge DDC, then it's not so silly to use it that way with the Hugo in the home, then also unhook it and grab for less serious portable needs (which means one is walking around with significantly less investment to drop on the subway floor, sidewalk, etc).

Here is the official answer I got:

"DSD DoP via Spdif is not officially supported by iFi (no industry protocol so subject to vagaries) but unofficially, customers have reported that it works for them."

My Hugo is less than a month old... I hate surprises! :)

Are there adapters on the market (like the one in the box) for helping RCA's fit? My Tellurium Q's won't have it.

Quite happy with the sound using my Atlas cables mind you. I might just stick with them.

Philips Fidelio L2 sounds amazing with Hugo. I think it's the best portable headphone I've heard.

Trance sounds just wow... Sandstorm by Darude blew me away.

L2 is very neutral but has amazing sub-bass extension. I would strongly consider it for portable purpose, also for home because L2 is very very comfortable. It is semi-open.

Oh, I didn't know the Hugo couldn't play DSD formats natively. Ah well, I uploaded a few videos showcasing the main LED indicators within the Hugo.
