I did have the rca plugged in and the other end just loss, could the two rca touching each other might have cause it? I am not really sure, such stuff happens with electrical stuff, I am very happy with the sound and that what matters.

My local dealer already told me he is getting some stock soon and he is happy yo replace it for me.

My charger is not the PSU block that I've seen on the web, mine is just an adapter.
i thick it will be a good idea to send bab the charger your using to see what happened

I hope you get your issue solved soon too, I know how bothersome it can get sometimes in order to get your gears fixed under warranty.

Hey bro, I may have missed it but hows the synergy of the Hugo with the equally wonderful C4 pro?

Well it is hard to tell as the C4 is only outputting digital out. As far as pairing goes I think it is 10/10. The SRC works wonderfully, it upscale and HUGO detects signal change.

As an all in one HUGO offers great sound, AK240 offers more option if you like to find an amp that does different thing to the sound, it also offers true one unit solution where as HUGO doesnt.

Yeah thats the thing...I actually want an one in one solution. But all this talk saying the AK240 doesnt really sound the best is really putting me off. I mean for that price, I expect it to be the best in everything.

Whereas the HUGO is a game changer (as most of you guys are saying here)

Mine is the second batch, so USB and standard optical cable with elastic straps, PSU adapter and enlarge RCA connection. I believe there is a new PSU power brick, a new optical to 3.5, coxial cable with the new batches.

Good news from what I have been told the new stock has arrived and it should make it to the local sellers within this week.

I have not checked how AK240 but I am willing to live with HUGO+AK100. I actually have the AK120 , I find it physically more fitting than AK240 and it gives me the option to be a transport with HUGO.

Mr Watts suggest optical should sound more natural on HUGO but members found coaxial sounds better. So if that is the case you have a number of different transport option for that too.

AK100-B+HUGO cost less than AK240 and it can also be a good stand alone portable. So does DX90.

For me the only time I use my DAP is when I am on the bus, if I am to take long trip where I am on the plan I can always take my HUGO with me and it is not that hard to carry a short optical and AK120 with it. Problem is HUGO is not designed to be a pocket on the GO device and if that matters for you than you must seek other options.

There are people who have AK240 and HUGO, they use HUGO with AK240 as source at home and on the go they use Ak240, while that is great but at that price point I would be looking into other options.

Thanks bro, helpful as usual.

Reason for my question is that i love my modded c4 pro but to really appreciate either the hugo or the ak240 is to demo them and make my decision from there

If you can wait 3 more months do so, colorfly is brining a new device by the end of this year and also Cowon DAP looks very promising. You already have a nice setup so really no point rushing into anything.

I am happy with HUGO on its own and I realised in order to upgrade the sound of HUGO I need a very expensive AMP.

Big interested in hearing thoughts/opinions on best on the go headphones for Hugo. Funny thing is that a year ago all I had in terms of headphones were IEM. Now the only headphones I have are full sized. Was walking around with my LCDX but I knew it looked ridiculous and unrealistic long term. Turns out big headphones are in with teenagers and early 20s as I had several ask me about them.

I A/B'd AK 240 and Hugo for a little bit. For me, no question on sound quality. Granted it was a brand new AK. But still : )

No question AK is much more portable. But that's the only thing going for it, in my opinion. iDevice + Hugo is a much better UX anyway. It really comes down to your intended purpose.

And even then, Hugo might change your purposes all up ; )

I feel the Hugo sounds better than the AK240 too. I'm thinking of sending my AK240 to Vinnie to mod after I figure out what kidneys or other things I need to sell to get the Hugo. The AK240 will do duty when I'm on airplanes and the like with my UERMs and the Hugo mainly at home on my desk.

Something I've noticed about the sound with the Hugo is, because the treble is so clear and distortion-free and the bass, likewise, doesn't have the subtle emphasis I've felt on some larger DACs, the mid-range almost seems very subtly more prominent. It is far more subtle than the feeling of lightness from the AK240, which comes from a very slight lack of bass strength -- I think the issue Vinnie reckons he fixes with his mod to the power rails.

Nobody go around saying that I said I thought the mid-range is more forward on the Hugo or anything like that, it isn't like that at all. It seems more the effect of lower distortion than anything, giving instruments less bite than I'm used to even with very good DACs. It is clearer/smoother-sounding than my NOS1704, which is very weird.
