+1.  Don't feed Apple's bad habbits.  I don't like things locked down.  It's so much quicker and flexible for me to use my Samsung.  The new apple implementations, it's been on Android for ages.

Just look at pictures of iphone connected devices on the photo section.  It's sad...

I am interested to hear from CIEM users, can you guys comment on what CIEM you are using with HUGO?

Thank you, it is reasonably priced to and it seems to be on the same level of ER4S which I consider my first love in audio related world.

I am using it with AKR 03. It was sublime and god-sent sound. Nothing on the portable side ever come close to the sound Hugo makes with AKR-03 for now. I have tried AK 120, AK 240, Titan, DX 90, Kojo KM-01, SR-71b, etc etc. All of them are inferior to Hugo, for now. IMO

Just single-ended. Ipod - Clas-db - Hugo - single-ended AKR 03

I believe they also include the SE cable too with their current bundles.

Yes they do, to pair with AK 240. It does gives em more staging, but it lacks the power from the likes of Hugo. AK 240 + Mass Kobo 395 comes close to Hugo performance though

I honestly could not find any portable amp to come on the same level as HUGO output stage. Not even the mighty wagnus could do it. I was not going to purchase it but one year worth of wondering made me.

I believe HUGO will save a lot of new comers a lot of money, but sadly most people who are new in this hobby will not dare to look at HUGO for what it cost. Funny enough HUGO is truly the so called the one tool that fix'em all.

I think nothing sound bad out of it.

It was almost a fatel (to my wallet) mistake to take my Hugo the other day to a local shop testing it with various CIEM demos - they ALL sounded so good and better than I remembered them and almost made me order A FEW of them.... UERM, Miracles, CW-L05QD, MH335, C435, K10, Rox...  I suddenly love all of them like never before!

My advice is to NEVER bring the Hugo to demo headphone/IEMs!

Apple allowed connection via a regular USB docking cable at the request of companies. The reason things are locked down, including why iDevices have never had removable batteries, is that consumers stuff up their devices with dodgy batteries or external devices then blame Apple when they fail or don't work. Apple certification ensures that peripheral makers aren't making rubbish that crashes your iPhone or iPad.

Getting Apple certification is a huge PITA and is of arguable benefit to something like the Hugo.

Since both 3.5-mm jacks should be active simultaneously, could we create so-called pseudo-balanced output by bridging both single-ended outputs? Of course NOT meant to be true balanced at all but I wonder if there were any improvements, an adapter similar to this one could be tested with Hugo
