Chord Hugo - Page 237

Hello if you are going to,order a offramp they sell a 75 ohm coax as well . This cable will outperform most any opitical cable . Also the offramp with the hdmi is very close to coax and it does 24/192 as well. A cheaper way to get the almost the same sonic improvment is the AP1/PP IT TOO improves over coax it's cheaper and no need for any cables to buy.
As I own all of the above and I have played around with it. Now tonight I intend to,load the new usb firmware falsh and compare to offramp . What I want is to compare the M7 to a Hugo and hear for myself how good it compares .

As currawong states this makes the the M7 not worth the trouble as the Hugo,is an amp as well. I would also like the use of an AP1/PP WITH THE HUGO TO SEE IF IT TOTALLY surpasses the M7
Any thoughts on this .

Does the Chord Hugo work great as DAC + AMP on Mac?

Btw, any optical cable that can carry higher than 24/96 besides the sysconcept one? I can't get my stock optical cable to work with 24/176 or 24/192 though I thought I saw someone posting stock optical cable works...

Congrats! :beerchug:

Why not just use coaxial?

btw does anyone have any clue as to when the off ramp 6 might release?

Audirvana. I quite like the software indeed for my Mac. Favorite by a long shot. And I like the name too.

Audirvana - Audio Nirvana - should have been a headphone manufacturer!

Audirvana+ (Mac Pro USB out) to AP2SE+PP via Synergistic Research Tricon USB cable, to Hugo, is excellent. Best connection I have going.

I figured that was within the name but still strange to me. Whatever, the software works great and I can play most everything right through my mac.

I would very much like to hear more about how you would describe the difference with and without the AP1(2) and the PP connected to Hugo.. and would you describe it as a good or great buy?
I am wondering about getting some new friends for my Hugo.. wink.gif

I sincerely hope so or I'll be forced to throw a brand new Mac Mini out the window !  Biggest problem for me will be my very inflexible Oyaide coax cable out of the HiFace but that's a topic for another time.

Hugo is probably the best dac for the mac. I like the app Vox for flac files. It has a DAC hog mode that is bit perfect.

I'll report back when the Seagate arrives. I've already converted all of my high resolution flac files to ALAC in preparation.

How may I access the Seagate Wireless 2TB with Win 8 Tablet? can it serve as an NAS ? If so, can any UPnP server be installed therein? If not, , how can Jriver or foobar on PC access it wirelessly and manage the media library?

I'm going to try it with an iOS device. I'll report back.

I'm surprised so many people are liking A+ over Amarra and Pure Music on the Hugo.  A+ sounds a little harsh and artificial compared to Amarra and PM.  I was actually loving Amarra first but then on the Hugo PM just sounds so much more spatially accurate, clear, and warm...  You guys trial it yet on the Hugo?

The chord hugo is able to drive difficult to drive headphones like the HD800, but also IEM's like the Shure SE846?

I'm looking for a new DAC + AMP that works for my IEM but also for headphones like the AKG K812 and HD800.
