I converted my FLAC's to ALAC files, and that works perfectly using 8Player. Just remember to enter the settings menu, player, and tick the "native iOS" or something similar.

I just switched between the two with my HD800's. I would call it a night and day difference. 100% improvement for a 800% greater investment. Pretty good in hi-fi terms.

I was just sitting at my desk with the two within easy reach. I'm sure the difference is smaller with easier to drive/less demanding phones than the HD800's.

I was using my HD800 from my desktop amp - Teac UD-H01 while the Hugo was charging.  There was an obvious difference in SQ as soon as I switched.  Now considering replacing my desktop amp while keeping the Hugo.  Any nice recommendations for a desktop amp to drive the HD800?  This is the first time I've had full size cans with such high impedance.  Clueless what to pair it with, may try my SR71a portable amp but think it'll still underdrive the HD800.

Think I'd prefer SS amp as opposed to tube amp, not keen on warming up before use and having to replace tubes.

Sell all the desktop amps and the HD800's, buy a pair of low impedance cans, LCD-X.  Use the Hugo amp only.  Use the remaining money and space for additional music purchases.

My dream is to one day collect all the ECM label albums. On that note TH900 works great jazz albums and Hugo.

I din't think my head can survive the Audeze cans :( Even on the HD800 I can feel the pressure from the ear pads squeezing my cheek bones.  Think Audeze cans would turn that into headphone burger :p.  I might just need to wear them more n get used to the feel though.

:o2smile: Just another excuse to get into the gym.  " Hey honey, I'm going to the gym"  "What?  Why?"  "  I need to workout my neck and head so as to be in shape for the Audeze cans!"

I think the HD800 sounds great straight out of the Hugo...

You are right they do sound great but I want to maximize their potential with a nice amp.  Anyone tried the Hugo->HDVA 600->HD800?  Think this combo may do something special for me.  Not keen to heft the HD800 to a dealer to demo the HDVA 600 though...

+1, but, I also tried feeding the Hugo output through the Pan Am tube amp and the HD800's really came alive and sounded even better to my ears. Highs were still excellent but the lows and mids had a bit more warmth and presence. The LCD-3's also sound superb with this setup. Haven't had time yet to try the Hugo through the Liquid Glass.

I would never use an adapter on optical. It just degrades the signal.

I sometimes use the TU-05b tube amp with the Hugo. Mostly for the Grado RS-1. I love the tube sound, but tend to agree with Mr Watts, no amp is pretty darn great.
