CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v80), quality = 98

Would this be safe to use as a charging device for the Hugo?

I use Version 1.0 of this unit to power my Tortuga LDR as well as my Adnaco S3B USB hub. Solid stuff from Anker.

Does this model also have the 5V USB output? That's what I use for the Adnaco USB (with a modded cable) and I can power 2 devices using a little over 2A.

I got the Energizer XP18000a for charging my iBasso DX100, 12v @ 2A.  Will this work for the Chord Hugo as well?  This has a single USB @ 2A as well, even works at up to 20v for laptops :)

On my revised chassis Hugo blue jeans cable's rca plug (audio output) will fit fine. But blue jeans rca won't fit Hugo's coaxial output though.

Let's assume I own a Hugo.  Now, if my priorities are storage (at least 500GB) followed by (trans)portability, then is connecting Hugo to a laptop the only solution?  If so, what's the recommended connection method to a Macbook Pro?  I should mention that I have no desire to use a USB--SPDIF converter.

How does the HUGO compare with the Concero HP / HD? Can it work as an spdif converter with digital out the same way as Concero?

The charger for the Hugo states output should  be 12V at 0.6A. Based on this, I think the Energizer battery should work provided you have the right connector. I am no engineer :D

You could just use the HD USB input - convenient and sounds great.

What format is your 500gb of music in? An alternative would be to use an idevice and a wireless hard disk like the seagate wireless plus and stream it via something like 8player.

Other alternative is a Microsoft Surface PRO 512 Gb + a player like JRiver .

Not sure if iBasso DX50 / DX90 / DX100 were able to support card readers with dual SDHC / SDXC card slots, we could get 2 pieces of 256GB for roughly $220 these days

Then get a short coaxial cables

We might also replace that card reader with 512GB SSD inside an enclosure, provided that DX50 / DX90 / DX100 could supply enough power via USB OTG.

Another (trans)portable way is streaming our music collection through wireless network as mentioned in previous replies, simply purchase something like Seagate Wireless Plus 1 TB connecting Android / iOS devices to Hugo via CCK / USB OTG. Just run an Android / iOS app with DLNA support like the ones from Seagate

https://itunes.apple.com/app/id431912202

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.seagate.goflexsatellite

The cables required for Android / iOS devices are basically the same as the ones here

http://resonessencelabs.com/dsd-on-iphone-with-herus

And then we've got some USB OTG accessories with multiple USB ports, one for 512GB drives and one for Hugo

OR... Geek Wave: A no compromise portable high-resolution music player.

The Geek Wave (reconfigured version) DAP + HUGO = Audio Nirvana.  :L3000:

Personally, I really hope it doesn't happen.

Well, my Hugo is ordered and on the way. They certainly don't sit for long in UK dealers at the moment.
So, in anticipation, have been studying the specs. Slightly concerned that the USB input for tablets and smartphones is only 16/48 capable.
Which input will work for high-res files from an iphone or ipod? My plan was to use the new 128gb ipod Touch as the primary DAP ( when Apple release it).
