lightweight... I am currently on route to New Malden, I've got me deckchair, sleeping bag and my Hammers beanie (I selected my ole ICF one to deter late night revellers from disturbing me)... best to be totally committed in these situations don't you think...

Lightweight? And that coming from a West Hamm Utd. fan. Lol. Yes you are right that a person must be proactive and strike while the irons hot. This year I'm following Liverpool F.C. in the Premier League because I like watching Luis Suarez.

Is a HUGO justified when you already have a
Ak240 ?

Can we really really hear a différence between AK240 Balanced HO and AK240>HUGO (SE) ?

( I have AK100+ HUGO and I try to convince me Not to buy à AK240 :-)

He's not concerned with it nor every last question in this thread from random people. I think Rob should be commended for his excellent participation, rather than you demanding an answer, and calling out in error that he did not answer, like he is obligated in any way. The way he has addressed personally so many questions here is remarkable.

Regarding BT. I have no idea why this is problematic for anyone. BT is an amazing technology, but despite this, has never been heralded as an audiophile format in any way. The fact that Hugo implemented it is a very cool convenience feature. Noise should be expected, obviously.

And adding a resistor to the output and running IEMs is a catastrophe. Stop doing it. Enjoy your Hugo. Stop expecting things from a technology that is inherently for convenience only. Just because Chord is a high-end manufacturer doesn't make the BT technology magically better.

I only spent a few minutes, listening to the Hugo, on it's own, as you already know, it's phenomenal. They had it demoed, with optical out. There were times, where I could hear more detail, cleaner, tighter bassI, I mostly listened with the Noble K-10's on my own AK-240, the JHA Roxanne's , were set up, right across from Noble, i listened to them also. Bought the K-10's. It's a little overkill Ak-240&Hugo, but a lot of people like getting that last ounce out of there systems.

I detect no difference in audio quality when using ZX1 vs iPhone 5s driving the Hugo. I stopped using the ZX1 with it on a regular basis b/c I have to power down & then power up the ZX1 to get the Hugo to recognize the connection w/ the ZX1 (the iPhones is an easy plug 'n play). On a side note, I listened today extensively with the iPhone 5s using the Can Opener app with its excellent crossfeed enabled (and bass boost, to augment the ER4S), and the sound is liquid, smooth, detailed and with an out-of-head soundstage. So far, this might be my favourite combo with the Hugo. For those giving a quick audition, I highly recommend a serious sit-down listening session. The lack of fatigue and effortless but detailed and music sound, takes more than a short audition to fully appreciate. The cross feed via can opener, I find much more pleasing and realistic than the Hugos.

Also, I have only experienced noise with BT & Hugo, to the point it is unusable. But I will try again this weekend.

Those ports also vent HEAT.........take the unit apart from time to time and dust the board and clean the glass if you have to. This unit does run warm!

I changed the battery leads out to high purity silver/cotton in my jh 3a/16pro freaqphase unit and it made an audible dfference in clarity:the coating plastic around the batteries can also affect sound.Like I said,Hugo has only one non- audiophile part in the rig........the batteries. Replace them or make them better in some way and you will have even better SQ.These simple mods i will do to Hugo's batteries.

Okay, so you haven't done this modification yet to the Hugo.  Let us know how it turns out.  Some photos would be nice.
