Bear with me on this post because I'm specifically talking about the chord hugo I've just got.I've got a Wadia 861 se going through a classe ssp 800 then through two bryston sst 7 b mono blocks feeding my....jm lab utopia first generation speakers and I'm hearing sounds that I've not heard before through the Hugo using my I phone 5s, two years ago I bought the 007 stax headphones and amp and thought the stax amp wasn't up to the job so used my classe ssp 800 as the pre amp and used the stax at full volume which sounded better, the blue Hawaii probably would of blown me away,I sold that and last year bought the Grado ps 1000 with the Graham slee solo diamond ultra amp again wasn't happy so used the classe ssp 800 as pre amp again, much better but still wasn't happy so sold that, now I've got the chord hugo with my iPhone 5 s going through my sennheiser ie 800 and I'm happy, ppl say it's come at the right time but it was 2 years to late the money I've wasted on other kit, honestly it's that good, my chord indigo plus balanced cable cost more than the Hugo never mind the rest of my kit, trust me when I say the chord hugo is amazing, don't compare it to other dacs just buy it with decent headphones sit back and enjoy one of the best sounding cheapest bit of kit that is gonna blow your mind, that's another reason why the Mrs likes it, she loves the sound and doesn't clutter the lounge like my big speakers she hates

LOL. The wife says where is that Bugatti? You won't let me have a new sofa!!!

Don't know what is the biggest laugh - the idea of me owning a Bugatti, or the idea of making big money from high-end audio!

Hi Rob

Thanks for releasing such a great portable product. I am very satisfied with Hugo and will keep an keen eye on your company's offerings (the ones I can afford... :D)

By the way, is it possible to release a smaller portable DAC/AMP for earphones in the future? A smaller form factor can allow me to enjoy high quality audio even when I walk around in the city....

Thanks!

as form factors go you'll still need a small bag or case... I bought a nifty leather one for the Hugo though Anak has posted a few photo's of a pouch that will take both the Hugo & ZX1 in the Sony thread, I'll hunt down the link.

Edit: if you click on link & look for post 4277, scroll down post till 2nd photo from last, that is the case you need for a nice snug fit, just got to figure a way to get a correctly sized one from Japan.

There are a couple of cheap micro USB cables from Audioquest but they should be nowhere close to the Diamond level.

DIY version of Crystal Cable Standard

SLK Audio

I've got the vertere cable from custom cable,70 quid for 0.2 metre but I've still got to use the Apple lightning cable as well which is the weak link

Actually that was a false joy, DHC can only make analog out with WM plugs...so I still have to use two plugs. Will add an improved usb to usb micro, the but WM to USB remains the same.

I will get the 901 to RCA from taobao and I asked DHC to make a Hugo compatible RCA to go with it...will report.

Just did some comparison with Lumin direct analog out (xlr) vs Lumin spdif coax > Hugo rca out

Amp - Mass Kobo 394

Headphones - LCD X, Abyss 1266

Analog interconnects - Zu Mission RCA / XLR

IMO, the Hugo dac is a notch above the Lumin's internal dac. With the Lumin running through the Hugo dac, I find more separation and layering; imaging and staging is more 3D with a touch more body to the music. Subtle differences but very audible to these ears.  My diy digital cable is still settling in, there are still some things I want to try out to optimise the setup....

Anxiously waiting here as well, hope it will be a game changer for reference dacs as the Hugo is for portables with aesthetics and ergonomics to match:)

Thanks for the update! Wow, that's insane! Really looking forward to try out my Hugo when it does arrive. Will be interesting to see what happens once your DIY coaxial runs-in and things optimised.
