I'm in the market to purchase some nicer sound equipment. I find my current HD 439s extremely lacking in sound stage above all else as well as a huge void in bass.
I mainly listen to genres of EDM but i certainly sway to other genres every once and a while. Gaming is also something that i extensively spend time on, though, in terms of headphones needing to be geared towards it is not a concern.
I'm currently looking at these headphones:
- Sennheiser HD 598s ~ From what i can gather, these have expectational ranges all around, though lacking slightly when it comes to bass.
- Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro ~ These seemed to be pretty mixed when reviewed, i understand sound is subjective though, but people mainly seem to be complaining about mids being overwhelmed by treble as well as bass.
Certainly open to more recommendations, i have no requisite on whether it is open or closed, though i prefer the sound stage of open headphones.
There is only one DAC/Amp combo I've looked at so far, the Audioengine D1.
Thoughts on this unit? Any other recommendations?
I'd like to stay under 400 dollars but if you truly believe spending a slight amount more would be worth the experience, I'd definitely consider it.
