Need help deciding what to do with my ATH-M50s.

Hi guys,

I've been using Audio Technica ATH-M50s for about two years now, and I feel it is time for me to upgrade. I used to listen to them through a portable CD player, which had a DAC inside, and it sounded fantastic, however, when I use them on my PC the sound isn't as bassy as the CD player. I use a Fiio E17 on my PC.

I have been looking to buy new headphones as I'd like to try out open back headphones and would also like a higher quality pair. I'm currently looking at the HD600s and 650s, I have found a new pair of 650s for £250, which is just on my budget.

What would you suggest I buy? Should I look to upgrade my amp and DAC? What recommendations would you make?

Thanks a lot

From what I've read, the E17 should drive the HD650's adequately, although I hear the Schiit Modi ($99) and the Schiit Magni ($99) are a really good DAC/Amp combo.
