Headphone recommendations?

I want new cans. I'm readily willing to spend up to $400. I've had the ATH-M50's for about a year but they're too neutral for me I feel. I want headphones that can produce heavy bass and good vocals, I would like highs too but they're not as important to me. Also, let me know if I need to buy an amp if you're going to recommend headphones that need them/benefit from one.

Thanks so much guys

Are you sure.. Cause the M50's are V-shaped, and I can confirm they are, in fact, I feel like the highs are too bright and piercing. If you want heavy bass, V-Moda M100, and stop looking. They don't need an amp either.

That is weird, the ATH-M50s are thought of as bassy headphones with recessed mids.

Buy yes there are better headphones then the ATH-M50s

What sources (and DAC/Amp) are you plugging headphones into?

Are you getting a good seal when you wear the headphones? Do you wear glasses? Or, it could be that your expectations are simply too high. If you are expecting to get a gut-pounding like in a ghetto-slammer with 4000 watts and three 15 inch subs in the trunk - well, that just isn't going to happen - not from ANY headphones.

I only really use my iPod 4 and I have a Fiio e5. Also I don't expect to be rattling my skull with bass haha. I have 12 inch subs in my room. Just looking for something to satisfy my taste without deafening everyone in my house.
