Any recent news on the impending release of the Pono?

I read late last year that Neil Young's Pono is supposed to ship sometime in the first quarter of this year. Since Neil has previously stated that the files it's meant to play are the same as studio archive quality, I wonder if this means the Pono music store will have DXD or maybe DSD128 or higher files.

Can't wait to hear Neil's albums in hi rez ...

thanks for your reply, I had read that article.

I had hoped there would be news from CES, especially since there was an area dedicated to high resolution audio. I guess the news about its release was premature.

There has, however, been a gradual expansion of the availability of hi res files, and more portable players capable of managing them, so at least we have a few options...

Yes, I'm enjoying my recently acquired AK120 along with the files I downloaded at HDtracks.

I also downloaded some David Elias DSD64 files to get an idea of their quality, and indeed, they do sound wonderful; however, I have a feeling this may be due to the mastering as much as to the file format (interestingly, the recording studio is not far from my house here in La Honda).

That's why I'm excited about my favorite rock albums coming out on DSD128 or higher or DXD. We can hope this may all come true sometime soon ...

I'm getting more and more from HDTracks now, haven't heard anything DSD though. I'm using mostly 24/96 FLAC on an IBasso DX100, which I find very impressive for a portable. I like the storage capacity of the AK120 though and would certainly consider one, I've got my 64gb on board and 2 x 64GB cards full already and you only have one slot on the IBasso...
