Sony Xperia Z1 Compact - Page 8

Yes, I have Poweramp (paid version) and use that all the time for my locally stored audio files.

Its a definite improvement over the stock Walkman app, with much more flexibility to get the most out of your music.
I agree that the sound is louder (ability to preamp helps) and more dynamic, and with a 10-band eq as opposed to Androids piddly 5-band, you can tweak the sound to your preferences better. smily_headphones1.gif

I have heard that Neutron is the ultimate player for sq but it has a parametric eq instead. I'm not sure how to use this type of eq, does anyone know?

I bought AKG Y40 on ear headphones today. I must say they're really good, I paid 80 Euros for them. Very portable and great sound. They sound as good as Urbanite for half the price. And they look much better than Urbanite headphones, they won Red Dot 2014 design award. What's great is volume up/down buttons work with the Xperia Z1 Compact. Most headphones offer one button mics for Android headphones whilst offering volume up/down button for iDevices. I appreciate AKG making a 3 button headphone for Android users.

Hi, for everyone who still has this phone, the latest update 5.1.1 has increased volume output by about 30%. The headphone jack is much more powerful now. Also the phone runs more smoothly.

i am after a sony dap (zx1 or f887) but have a chance to grab a pre loved (almost new) z1c at a price which is very favourable - probably half that of what i could get a pre owned f887 for

considering the z1c as a pure music source and nothing else, for instance id disable all other functions if poss like the phone etc i think this would be a viable option or choice

now my question is, has anybody achieved root access and running viper for android on their phones as quite fancy opening up what i can to be a pure audio machine

thanks

Using my Sony Z1 compact since 2013, works pretty fine as mobile source for my CIEMs, with installed Viper4Android and I'm using Neutron Music player app, the two best apps you can use for pure SQ. Root is easy done on the Sony Z1 compact, search for it's not so difficult.

excellent, thanks for that

were you running 5.1.1 at time of rooting as this is the fw on the one i can get

it'd also be used with trinity atlas so nothing demanding so to speak

I currently use Z1 Compact running stock 5.1.1 ROM, and have root access + VIPER4Android (V4A) 2.4.0.1 running.  With V4A the volume level is significantly much higher compared to stock but downside is, hiss/background noise can be audible too.  But I'd recommend installing V4A anyway because Z1C was too quiet for my liking and I like my music loud.
