Please, I need help with audio file and convertors

Most of my audio files come from Youtube. I have converted some tracks and the majority are MP3 128 BIT. Do I need to change the file format to something with higher quality like FLAC? Or Increase BIT? Which convertors do you guys recommend?

Thanks

I believe no matter what format you change the current 128k files to, the audio quality would not be improved.

Also converting the 128k files to a higher bit rate or FLAC file might bring out any imperfections in where in the original 128k file, so they might sound worse.

To make good FLAC files you really need to use an Audio-CD as the source.

You can not extract the info which was lost during to initial compression to the MP3. You would end up with worse tracks.

yeh I tried converting from 128 to 320 and there was no difference at all. So what are those BIT rate convertors for?

I don't think you can convert 'up'; 128 to 320 = same quality, bigger files...

One function for bit rate converters is to make smaller audio files, I guess some people are willing to lose a little audio quality so as to be able to fit more audio files in the same space.

Why someone would need a program that converts audio files to a higher bit rate is beyond me, as I can't see any advantages.
