+1. Very uncool to turn a positive thread about one manufacturer into a negative one about another

They have those?... >_> jk

So what happens when I plug my Schiit up to a Mac and listen to music? Cause I found out yesterday and it sounded really good to me

Our current metal vendor had the same problem as the first (trying to refinish the second run), but their response was completely different: they recalled all the chassis, made new ones, and learned what we need for "consumer-grade finish." The first guys tried to define "consumer-grade finish" in their own terms, and demanded payment.

Rather than go through the legal wrangling (time, collections, etc), we paid for the crap chassis (and we still use them for prototypes, they *do* make fine heatsinks) and moved on. It's better to find someone who understands your needs and wants to work with you in a non-adversarial manner, than trying to recoup some losses.

Mike calls this "stepping on nickels and losing dollars."

Makes sense. But I agree, it was upsetting to read that. If it were me, I think I would have asked for money back.

On the bright side, you could probably put a dig on Yelp.com about them and let Karma do it's job.

Or, you could paint some black and offer them as accessories. Really.

Fact is, Nick and I send 3-4 emails every day telling people not to buy our products. Most of them go to people who have, say, $100 headphones and are looking at a Valhalla/Bifrost stack, or something similar.

Yeah, I can see why you'd need to do that.

A lot of people don't research purchases like they should. They also don't set the clock on their VCR's either.

Wait, do people have VCR's anymore? ...

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away, I worked at Radio Shack.

People actually used to walk into the store and ask if we sold radios.

Really.

I wasn't bashing Apple. All I said was that they made excellent products that are expensive.

Edit: this is the last thing I will say about this.

@RickB Great, now that you shared your opinion about a fruit company that is not Schiit, twice, let's move on, you have it out of your system, we are all glad.

Back to topic:

Jason, since I am now proud owner of 4 schiiti products, can you let me know which font you use for the product name on the devices? It looks to me like a custom font, is it?

Cheers,

K

Yep, it's custom, I build it letter by letter.

Love that attention to detail - the font looks very modern and yet 8-bitty to me.

Thanks!!

Did the Modi originally have a C-Media CM6631  and then change to CM6631A?

Nope, always 6631A.

This is a great thread Jason. I was thinking that more companies should do something like this but then realized it would be far to... Umm what's the word... Lets say douchey.

They would spend more time talking about why they are great and have lawyers proof read their post before putting it out there so no thanks to that!! It's nice hearing from genuine people that actually have their ears to the ground.

On a side note. Please bring that black Schiit back. A black Vali or Valhalla is calling my name!!

Thanks,
