Want to hire someone to do K1000 mod

I have a pair of AKG K1000's with broken drivers that need replacing. I also have a brand new pair of AKG K812s. I want to transplant the drivers from the K812s into the K1000s. I don't have the necessary skills to do it myself, so I want to hire someone. I expect it would be a difficult job, but I'm willing to pay whatever it costs to get it done right. If someone would be willing to take on this task, or could suggest someone else I might ask, I'd be very grateful.

This is not a good idea. The K1000 is a totally different design than the 812. The 812 is an over-ear headphone and the K1000 is a float headphone. The drivers from the 812 are going to sound terrible in the K1000 because there will be no seal whatsoever by any padding. You will have NO bass, and NO mids at all. You are better off waiting for someone to sell their K1000 drivers or sell off your current K1000 headphones and save that money to buy another, functioning pair.

I realize that transferring the K812 drivers into the K-1000 will result in a significant loss of bass compared with the K812. But that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

If you wish to mod. There is a member here named BRUNK. He is a DIY expert. No joking intended .

If it can be done he is who I would reccomend. .

This is not much different from the experiment I did at the hospital when I replaced defibrillators with tasers.  Both seem like sound ideas.

As long as you use Elna Cerafines, it sounds like a perfectly sound idea.

Does anyone remember when Edwood put the cups from his R10 on his K1000 frames?

His R10 also got gnawed on and peed in by one of his hamsters. They have been through a lot. Of photoshopping!

Everyone across two different head-fi forums is telling him the same thing. I'm thinking he's either trolling, or just an obstinate fool with money to burn.

Yeah one of the two. Probably trolling if he started 2 threads with the same subject.
