24,800yen  (roughly 230-250 bucks) The video I saw stated the M-Audio would be the same or slightly less.

The Q40 is labeled as a "Studiophile" headphone and they are bass cannons. Just cause the manufacturer is throwing the word "studio" around doesn't mean they are flat. Plus, I think the point that Max was making is that the new M-Audio headphone is based off of the discontinued AKAI, not the version you have, which throws everything out the window.

Great pics though!

I watched the entire interview in Japanese introducing both cans at the same time by the same rep. It's the same cans.

The M-Audio had the caps from the old Akai 50mm.

They are re-branded Akai.  The rep said they contained the same drivers.  This is a new studio reproduction set of cans with Akai aimed at the Asian Market and M-Audio aimed at the West. The M-Audio were supposed to have been released 2 weeks ago

I don't think the Q40 are cannons.

Thanks about the pics. They are the most beautiful cans I ever owned. They are built so damn solid and everything is machined tight and it is really nice. The padding is luxurious and I could wear them for hours. The M-audio is the same exact unit besides the caps. It's a steal for the price considering what folks will sell plastic for....**cough** Ultrasone...**cough** any number of cans made of plastic and priced over 400 bucks.

Any news from anyone on this?  How this has gone this long with no mention or discussion is amazing?

We had 7 pages on the HE560 recently talking about THE POSTMAN NOT DELIVERING ON TIME..........................and zip on this?

Anyone know anything?

These are Studio Monitors.

Identical wordage as the Akai. Since they are the same can.

Beautiful well made comfortable cans.

Hopefully it doesn't disappoint as the successor to the brilliant Q40!

I received an e-mail 1 hour after my last post. I have modded these as instructed and can say they are worth4 successors to the Q40. I will be doing a review as requested by the mailer.

I'm sure they are quite a bit more comfortable, right? They look like they are, huge plus.

They are the most comfortable (balanced/padding) cans I own. Full over ear with deep pads.

Comfort was never an issue but the low end response was a concern. It is not now.

Amazon is selling these for $153.02 with Prime free shipping. 3 - 6 week shipping is the only downside........I am ordered and the wait begins.

They are at home waiting for my arrival................will post up later.

Am I the only person who bought them?  For $153 I thought there would be a run on them!
