I first got in to Hi-Fi headphones a while ago with my Audio-Technica M-50 headphones. They were and still are a fantastic piece of hardware. Unfortunately I have not graduated from them to something else, as money is a prohibiting factor, so I'm looking to see if I can get more out of them by purchasing an Amp.
To describe my use of the headphones, I use them mostly on my computer. I use it to listen to music, and for gaming. I am also using them to listen to my recordings, for I am now involved in a YouTube Channel.
Basically I'm looking for a desktop amp that can drive my M-50 to the next level, give it a breath of fresh air; to reinvigorate that feeling of 'wow' that I felt when I first graduated to these from crappy Skullcandy Hesh cans.
And I'm trying to do all of this on a budget. I'm looking for a sub-$50 amp that will give me what I want. I'm willing to go in to the used market, so that is not out of the question. Thus far I've been looking in to FiiO-type offerings. The Fiio E07K Andes intrigues me, but is slightly out of my price range at the current time. The FiiO Fujiyama E06 is in my price range, but I'm not sure if I'd notice any difference at all. The FiiO Kilimanjaro E11 is barely above the price range, but I don't know what I would get out of it... I guess that statement stands for all three, as I've never used an amp to drive headphones.
I did attempt to road test these at my local Long and McQuades..... but the store was absolutely useless. The had no portable offerings, and only one desktop from a brand that I've NEVER heard of before(They didn't even carry and replacement pads for headphones there).
Any help would be very very much appreciated!
