Hah, indeed. That won't be much of a problem as I will be mostly be using these from my laptop/desktop. Maybe if I can scrape up some extra money I can get a good portable amp.

 

 

Not at all, StanD, however I can't seem to find much information regarding the FiiO E18 and I have heard that for some, the DAC is more important. Hope that cleared up any misconceptions!

I have an E18 and it sounds rather good.The amp section can drive my HD600 loudly and my HE-500 not so loudly but OK. It did much better with the HE-500 than I expected. DAC more important? I think the weakest link in your chain is going to be just that, the weakness, I don't think you're going to get better than the E18 unless you start spending much more. It can also charge your phone. If you want it to work with your phone, you should check the compatibility as with any DAC/Phone pairing.
