please recommend me a headphone that has the best mids and highs

i bought the audio technica m50, and in the beginning i liked the sound, but then i got bothered by the highs and mids, as if its too sharp on my ears. I don't know I feel after burning in the headphones from this site http://www.jlabaudio.com/index/burn-in

After burn I hated the sound more than before. I did burn in 40 hours straight.

I want a headphone that gives me this deep dark rich mellow feeling no matter the type of music I listen to. Usually I listen mostly to synth music, like deepche mode, camouflage, etc

also I like heavy metal like ayreon, dream theater and others.

Now what I find so bothering is always is I have a problem with the mids and highs I just hate when the sound is thumb pounding it hurts my ears.

I like the mellow feeling, I can't describe in english as its my second language, but I want a headphone that gives a great ethereal sound with great bass and not annoying highs and mids

any recommendations  for a budget up 500 - 600 USD

Dsnuts said that the Shure1540 is pretty awesome with the mids, and the highs are great, but laid back at first. With burn-in, they sound better. Bass is great in his opinion. I'll post his impressions soon.

I feel like I'm recommending out of guilt sometimes (since I bought a pair and ended up returning them) but the Mad Dogs or maybe even Alpha Dogs from Mr Speakers have some amazing mids and highs. I wouldn't necessarily describe them as "dark," but I feel like mellow would be a good way to describe them, and they sound sound fantastic; very similar to what I think you're trying to describe. Plus, at $300 you'd still have room in your budget for an amp :)

you mean you returned the mad dogs and if yes why.

So compared to m50 will hear the difference or is just a minor thing compared to alpha dogs

If you don't need isolation you should definitely look into Philips Fidelio X1 and Sennheiser HD650 (this needs extra amplification). If you want a closed back that provide good isolation you should consider Sennheiser Momentum. This headphones have good bass and soft highs. You should also consider Philips Fidelio L2.

well i was about to buy these alpha dogs headphones, but then after reading the thread there i backed out for the following reason:

1- it seems so much contradicting info about how to amp it, and initially i wanted a headphones than can benefit from a portable amp like fiio e11, as I use the fiiox3+fiio e11 as my gear. So since this gear might not give me the power needed to get the good sound I back out from ordering it

2- I am completely mixed up how is the base, some say its flat, and not that good of a bass????

3- I look for a headphone that I can use on my fiiox3+ fiio e11 would that be a bad combo, I use that combo with my audio technica m50, the sound is ok but not that great, I hate the lack of base in the audio technica so will I also find the lack of base with AD with my combo

I need need a headphone that works with my combo for mobility reasons, not one that keeps me tight to my home.

what I look for is a major difference from the audio technica not something that will sound as the m50 as I don't like the sound of it anymore.

I am so confused when I first bought the audio technica I was so happy and the sound was great. Now I hate it, I did burn it in for 40 hours and still hate the sound
