If the source - in this case the DAC - is bass heavy then it is using "bass-boosting" features, or alternately, "treble is rolled off enough to make the bass relatively prominent." It will just not be in terms of a switch or knob that the user can manipulate, but as a part of the circuit itself.
That said, look into the Superpro707 USB DAC; had one before. It has USB and SPDIF, but you'd want to use the former. It comes with a PSU that doesn't supply all the voltage the circuit can handle, as you can use either a 19v netbook PSU with it (as the previous owner did, and I tried it as well) or use the USB (as I did for themost part). With the latter, as I understood it, it uses the 5V off the USB (assuming your motherboard has no issues supplying all of that) to power most if not all the digital section, leaving the PSU to power the analog section. Basically the sound off a 19v PSU and USB are the same vs using the stock PSU and SPDIF. It fed a Little Dot MkII in my system and the SR225 I had then thundered with authority.
Make sure it's well ventilated though; it heats up a bit more using USB or a bigger PSU.
