Looking for more versatile set of headphones

Thread Starter

Hey everybody, I have a somewhat odd request: I'm looking for a second pair of headphones for "everyday" listening with a similar signature to what I already have/had.

I currently use a pair of LCD2r2's paired to a Lyr/Bifrost out of a MBP. I love the sound but I don't always want to break out the gear and I can't really go past my desk with this setup.

My headphone path has been ATH-AD700 -> Denon D2000 -> LCD2r2. I enjoy the Audio-Technica house sound but I rather enjoy bass quality and quantity.

I'm currently looking for an over ear closed pair of headphones under $500 which could be driven by the Lyr if I so desired (ideally something above 50 ohm) and won't bother everyone around me. I've looked into the w1000x (~$380), DT770 pro (~$170), and Denon D600 (~$270), but I am open to anything that meets my criteria.

Thanks for any help!

Since I have not heard the LCD-2s, check out en.goldenears.net and compare the summaries between your cans and other cans. Remember, he measures up to 20kHz and does not account for soundstage and such, but he has given really good comparison scales between cans I have heard and compared.
