n00b looking for overear suggestions

I have read a few threads, but I would love to have some help in choosing some new headphones. My (probably 10 year old) Technics RP-F200 are wearing out. The foam rubber has disintegrated. I want to plug them in to my Motorola moto g. Sennheiser HD449 have been recommended to me. Mainly listen to speech radio and classical music. I find the technics very bassy and a bit loud even on the lowest volume!
Thanks in anticipation,
Greenhead

Sorry for the delay in replying - I thought I'd subscribed to the thread. I think open back would be good to try - I listen at home normally. I'm in the UK, so 60 pounds, about $100. I guess you won't know if your recommendations are available here. Sony, Panasonic and Sennheiser are common brands here. The Sennheiser 518 are open back, I had a look at those online.
