Upgrading from Soundsticks II to A2+; Need advice

I'm looking for something of comparable size and hopefully better sound, and I have my eye on the Audioengine A2+. The only thing I'm worried about with the set is that the bass won't be as good because I don't have a dedicated subwoofer. Perhaps someone who has had the chance to compare the two (or at least knows enough about them) can offer some advice on the matter. Will the A2+ compare with the Harmon Kardon Soundsticks II?

I also considered the Logitech Z623 and the Altec Lansing MX6021, but various forum posts convinced me that the A2+ would be better. If you can convince me that the 2.1 set will be better than the A2+ I will totally get those instead.

I generally listen to electronic music so bass is important to me and the Soundsticks II have suited my needs quite well. It's just that they are really old now (5+ years) and the left one makes a high pitch sound sometimes.

I think you might want to ask this question in a forum for computer speaker audio - unless you plan to strap the speakers to your head? tongue.gif

The audioengine's are better speakers hands down, I owned the Soundsticks back in college and realized how much they were really just about style after switching to a pair of Audioengines (A5's for me, have now sold those and moved on to KEF LS50's). The Audioengine may be a bit disappointing for you in the low end, I would recommend getting them now and saving up for their Audioengine SR8 sub to buy later seperately, you won't be disappointed.
