Look into the creative aurvana live 2. It's a great headphones with good bass, soundstage and detail. It's about $10-$20 out of your price range but its worth it.

Grado are genre specific, they're good for rock and stuff, but when it comes to bassy music like rap they're not too good.

Depends on what you want from your headphones? Accuracy and real-life detail? Grado. A little digital enhancement, maybe bass boost or a little extra on top? Creative.

Not every headphone is going to play every genre to ones liking. No headphone is perfect, some just get much closer than others..

Why not consider the Martin Logan Mikros 90 closed portables.

Incredible value right now for about $85.

Balanced, extended, detailed, highly resolving, quick and musical.
