On my MD player, the servo mechanism going from track to track seems to be noisier now that it was when I first got the unit. You know, that irritating, grinding sort of sound you hear when you are track searching or when you press STOP. The grinding is similar to the old Panasonic portable CD players.
Is there any maintenance I can do to make it a little more quiet? I'm pretty sure I read here long time ago about using "lithium grease", but what is it, where do you get it (or something just as good) and how and where do you apply it? And why does it make such an irritating noise in the first place?
