Great impression Lin, thank you for that, personally with comply ts-200, the sibilance and peaks bother me no more, so if you have them handy, try it and see what you think (speaking of I should've put a pair of ts-200 with the tour for you guys to try with, sorry guys)

That song 'Secret' by Maroon 5 now has become one of my 'test' track for IEM's, it is such a superb track to test transparency, imaging, separation, timbre, and of course, bass

Another one of my test track is this below, listen to it Lin and see what you think, also excellent transparency and imaging.

You're not finding it so bad now? I see you've gone back and made several edits to your original first impression? Did it just disappear or something the sibilance? . Unfortunately for me it was unacceptable, as I've said many times, close and probably to a majority passable. Whether you guys get the same effect or want to let it fly is up to you.

It is still there no doubt, but for me it doesn't really bother me except with a few songs. I didn't have as bad an experience as you with sibilance I think.

I have to think that the sibilance issue is most likely due to depth of insertion/fit/seal or maybe just the interaction with each individuals ear canal. Maybe significant appreciable for H20Fidelity and not noticeable for other user. I'm stil waiting for my delivery of 3X.

I don't think that the sibiliance is a design flaw from UM - they have a lot of experience. Maybe we should ask UM for their statement about this issue. Bad quality control could be also a further reason - remember the missing logo on the faceplate of the first batch.

Curently there is no second batch available and no official information about delays:confused:

Yeah I am going to email Stephen Guo direct and ask him, no use asking UM UK I think as they are more of a 'sales' team, and not engineers, but yes I do agree with you to some extent about sibilance caused by bad fit, but also, it could be a manufacturing issue (hopefully not)

The one with no logo is the second batch, the first batch all sold out within days, and apparently there are only a handful of them, I think what everyone waiting for now is the third batch

Mini showdown from you please, Mr Lin? (when you are ready, as you have all 3 with you at the moment?)

3X vs AX60 vs DN1000

Much appreciated :beerchug:

PS - I guess you can't test it with silver cable anymore, as the said cable has changed hands?

Yeah, sure.

The AX60's bass actually sound quite a bit like the 3X but I find the 3X's bass more controlled and has better detail. It is also more textured and you really feel like you are in the room with the performers. The sub-bass from both is very good, but I think that the 3X is better. Both have too much rumble for me though. The midrange has some peaks for the 3X which results in vocal sibilance. For H20 it was really bad, but for me it was bearable, but by no means welcome. The AX60's midrange is somewhat veiled so even though the 3X has sibilance, I have to give it to the 3X because I simply cannot stand a veiled midrange. The treble is very good on both but both are a little bit too bright and have too much sparkle. Both IEMs hurt when you play "Not Afraid" by Eminem. I think the 3X has a bit more quantity but has better quality. I'm not sure which one I prefer, but my preference may slightly lean towards the 3X. The AX60 has a larger soundstage I think but the 3X has better imaging. The 3X is also more detailed but both are not really extremely detailed.

Overall I do prefer it over the AX60, but I really didn't like the AX60 much at all... The 3X is superior in technicalities and I also prefer the overall sound sig despite the sibilance. Both are rough stones really but both have amazing potential. I'll do the DN-1000's comparison later. I reckon the Silver cable may have actually tamed the sibilance a bit...

I think you are right on the money there mate, as soon as I got the supernova, plug that into my LSX5 and straight away smoothen the high and adds warmth to it, very nice, though the downside is that it reduces the soundstage by quite a lot - so I have a feeling that it will do similar performance on the 3X

Perhaps... I didn't get a reduced soundstage though. But again, some people don't think cables make a difference and this is probably not the best thread to debate this.

Great idea djvkool  Stephen Guo will be the best contact in this case. And yes you got the second batch with no logo - unbelievable case.

Next time UM will forget to build in the dynamic driver...

I think UM UK have a bad customer service - we allready paid our item via paypal one month ago and although they claimed two weeks delivery time they don't inform there customers about the delay. But i expect when the sibilance is really a design flaw they will loose a lot of their reputation asserting building the best custom in-ear monitors around and several customer will return the 3X for a refund. Maybe you also should ask Stephen for a new sample for the tour - bad reviews on headfi will also destroy their business.

i would totally agree!!! they keep on saying that i'll be part of the next shipment, but no further updates after that. my fuse is really getting short and with the initial impressions that we have here, i'm seriously considering cancelling my order.

In the meantime i got in touch with UM UK and asked them about the situation.

UM apologies for the delay because they looked at some of the feedback and tweaked the IEMs slightly to resolve those issues.

Disptach of batch 3 will start today.

I've emailed them yesterday but so far no response yet, I'll wait for their reply.

If I decide to exchange my unit, then I would have to halt the tour momentarily, then will continue the tour a week after I received my replacement unit :beerchug:
